Tamil Nadu pollution control board, Ambattur in association with National Green Corps ( NGC) organised a plastic awareness program in Chennai Primary School, Athipattu in Ambattur Zone with a distribution of yellow cloth bags.
Dr.Srinivasan (Health Education officer, Greater Chennai Corporation) demonstrated the ill effects of single use plastics with several incidents and documents. He also explained the alternate things to plastic through IEC vehicle.
Thangaraj (Chennai district National Green Corps coordinator) elaborated the roles and responsibilities of students in avoiding the plastics.
Indra Gandhi (District Environment Engineer, TNPCB) in her special address, detailed the government’s initiatives in controlling the production, storage and usage of such banned plastics.
All the students were given Manja Pai for their daily usage with a pledge on not to use carry bags hereafter.
