Shanthi Chandrasekar (74 years) exhibited 450 plus Vinayagar idols in thematic 15^th year Thejus Swarna golu at Park View, 3rd Floor, Old No. 85, New No. 94, G N Chetty Road, T.Nagar (Next to Jeeva Park). She said that this initiative has also given us an opportunity to showcase her personal collection of nearly 450–500 Vinayaka idols, lovingly collected over the years. Made from different materials and crafted in a variety of shapes and sizes, each idol has its own uniqueness and story, having been acquired from different places.
Shanthi said that there will be special video presentation of Lord Vinayagar. She said that when we first started Swarna Golu in 2011, we followed the traditional practice of arranging steps and displaying the idols we already had. We were delighted to create a beautiful Golu. For several years thereafter, we celebrated Navaratri with themes inspired by various festivals, divine weddings, the Dashavatara, and other religious and mythological subjects. We collected dolls and figurines that suited each theme and brought our ideas to life.
The visitor may visit Thejus Swarna golu from 11am to 6pm till Oct.20.
