Neighbourhood Educator achieves her dream of becoming a published Poet and Author
S. Mahalakshmi, an English educator, researcher and emerging writer from Mugalivakkam, Porur, turning a cherished dream into reality, has stepped into the literary world as a published poet and author with her recent book, She Was Never Fragile.
The book is a collection of 21 feminist poems exploring themes such as girlhood, womanhood, identity, dreams, resilience, freedom, self-worth, healing and self-discovery. The collection traces a woman’s journey from innocence and societal expectations towards courage, self-acceptance and empowerment.
Through her poems, Mahalakshmi seeks to give voice to emotions and experiences that often remain unspoken and celebrates the strength within every woman to speak, choose, heal, rise and become unapologetically herself.
Mahalakshmi holds a Master’s degree in English Literature and a Cambridge University CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) qualification. Her academic background in English Literature and professional training in English language teaching have contributed to her passion for literature, education and writing. Adding another memorable milestone to her journey, she also participated in the Guinness World Record achievement for “Most Authors Signing Their Own Book Simultaneously”, held on July 26, 2026 in Chennai.
For Mahalakshmi, the publication of She Was Never Fragile marks the realisation of a long-cherished dream of becoming a poet and author and the beginning of a new chapter in her literary journey. The book is published by Book Leaf Publishing House and is available both online and offline through Book Leaf Publishing House.
