On occasion of World Tourism Day (September 27),Saveetha Hospitality Institute – Food & Tourism (SHIFT), SIMATS, Thandalam, celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 on September 26 with the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” The celebration aimed to create awareness among students about the growing role of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence in transforming the tourism industry.
As part of the celebration, students actively participated in Digital Poster Creation and The Great Map Expedition, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, digital skills, geographical knowledge, and understanding of tourism. The Digital Poster Creation activity encouraged students to present innovative ideas related to tourism, technology, and Artificial Intelligence, while The Great Map Expedition provided an engaging platform to explore tourism destinations, geographical locations, and important attractions.
The celebration provided an opportunity for students to connect their academic learning with emerging trends in the tourism industry and develop their creativity, communication, teamwork, and destination knowledge. Prizes were awarded to students for their outstanding performance and active participation in the activities. The event promoted digital awareness, innovation, teamwork, and appreciation of the evolving tourism sector, creating a meaningful and memorable World Tourism Day celebration at SHIFT.
