Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, celebrated Alpha Fest 2026 on September 10 and 11 in its college premises. Members from the four houses-Shakespeare, Shaw, Shelley and Spencer-participated in a wide range of off-stage and on-stage events that gave students the opportunity to display their talents and the impetus to win.
The celebrity guest on this occasion was Kalaimamani M. Sridhar, Eminent film choreographer and actor, who graced the occasion and addressed the Alphians. The event was organized under the auspices of Suja George, Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions, George John and Anna John, Joint Directors of Alpha Group of Institutions. Principal Dr. A. Sivasankar, Vice Principal Dr. Benita Merlin, Coordinator–Applied Courses Dr. K. Tamilarasi, presided and College Cultural Secretary and Convener of Alpha Fest 2026, S. Kavitha, was also present. More than 400 students registered and participated in the Alpha Fest competitions this year. The off-stage events on September 10 included Signature Chefs (Food without fire), Grill Fill (Face Painting contest), Shutter Up (Photography contest), Mehndi, Minute to Win It (One-minute film festival), Biz Thrive (Business Plan contest), Trash to Treasure (Art from Waste), Rhythms of Kavithai (Kavithai potti), Mind Spark (Innovation Contest), Prompt Forge (AI Prompting), and Brain Bolt (Logo Making).
The on-stage events on September 11 included Tap Your Feet (Solo Singing contest), Beat Sphere (Instruments contest), Beat Breakers (Adaptune), I’ve Got the Rhythm (Solo Dance contest), Chronicles of Style (Fashion Walk), Melodica (Group Singing), Folk Dance (Girls’ Indian Folk Style), and Dance Dil Se… (Boys’ Western Dance). Students were judged for their confidence, stage presence, teamwork, coordination, creativity, presentation skills, and choreography. Participants impressed the judges with their extraordinary performances. Each of the houses also put up stalls as part of Alpha Fest’s Alpha Bazaar. Students of both shifts actively participated in bringing different stalls highlighting their entrepreneurial skills.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. A Sivasankar , which warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members and students and set the tone for the celebrations. The cultural report was presented by Deepika, Cultural Secretary, Student Forum Shift II. The guest was introduced by Deepika, Cultural Secretary, Student Forum Shift II. A proud and memorable moment of Alpha Fest 2026 was the presentation of badges by the Chief Guest to the House Captains and Vice-Captains of the cultural and sports houses . The ceremony recognised the student leaders who will shoulder the responsibility of guiding their respective houses with commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship. The four cultural houses-Shakespeare, Shaw, Shelley and Spencer-and the four sports houses-Athens, Marathon, Olympia and Sparta-were represented by their respective Captains and Vice-Captains. The badge presentation marked a significant moment of pride for the student leaders and the Alpha family. The Vote of thanks was rendered by  Pavan Suvinma, President, Student Forum, Shift II.
The occasion concluded with a grand Valedictory Programme, marked by the distribution of prizes by the Principal, Dr. A. Sivasankar, to the winners of the various competitions held over the two days. A heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Benny Hinn, Community Secretary, Student Forum, Shift I. The event concluded on a solemn note with the National Anthem, bringing the two-day celebration to a successful close.
Alpha Fest 2026 provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase creativity, talent, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit. The two-day celebration brought together students across the four houses in a spirit of healthy competition and participation.
