SHIFT organizes online FDP
The Saveetha Hospitality Institute of Food and Tourism (SHIFT), SIMATS, Thandalam, hosted an insightful online Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “The Future of Hospitality: Technology, Guest Experience and Operational Excellence“ on August 24.
The session featured Imran Khan, Operations Manager at Marasa Sarovar Premiere, Tirupati, as the resource person. Nine faculty members from the SHIFT department actively participated in the training session aimed at bridging academic knowledge with current industry innovations. During the program, Khan vividly detailed modern operational techniques across key hotel departments, including Food & Beverage (F&B) Service, Front Office, and Housekeeping. Key highlights included:
F&B Service & Inventory Innovation: Advanced inventory management processes for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, along with automated inventory systems.
Modern Guest Welcome Concepts: Creative culinary integrations in guest arrival experiences, such as signature welcome drinks like the green camphor and elaichi (cardamom) flavored laddu drink.
Front Office & Housekeeping Automation: Enhanced guest journey management, smart check-in/check-out solutions, and practical automizers.
Marketing Trends: The growing role of digital marketing and influencer marketing in driving hotel brand visibility.
The interactive FDP provided valuable industry insights to upskill faculty members, enabling them to integrate contemporary operational trends directly into academic curriculam.
