World Nature Conservation Day celebration

The Saveetha Hospitality Institute of Food & Tourism (SHIFT), Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Thandalam, observed World Nature Conservation Day on July 28 with great enthusiasm and environmental commitment.
The celebration commenced with the beautiful decoration of the department premises using nature-themed pebble art, green plants, and eco-friendly displays posters, creating awareness about environmental conservation among students and staff.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. T. Milton, Principal, SHIFT, who addressed the gathering on the importance of protecting natural resources, reducing pollution, and adopting sustainable practices in daily life. He emphasized that every individual has a responsibility to preserve the environment for future generations.
As part of the event, students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff collectively took a Nature Conservation Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to planting more trees, minimizing pollution, conserving natural resources, and promoting a cleaner and greener planet.
The highlight of the programme was the Tree Plantation Drive conducted in the SHIFT garden. Students, faculty members, housekeeping staff, and the Principal actively participated in planting saplings, symbolizing their dedication to environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
The event concluded with a strong message that small individual actions can collectively create a significant positive impact on the environment. The programme inspired participants to become responsible citizens committed to building a sustainable future.
