World No Tobacco Day Awareness Programme
World No Tobacco Day is observed every year on May 31 to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to encourage people to adopt a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle. The day serves as an important reminder of the health risks associated with tobacco use and the need to protect future generations from its dangers.
With this objective, the NCC Unit of Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur (1 TN ARMD SQN NCC) organized a World No Tobacco Day Awareness Programme on May 31 in its premises. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the ill effects of tobacco and to promote a healthy and responsible lifestyle. The programme was graced by our respected Principal, Dr. A. Sivasankar, NCC Associate NCC Officer (ANO), Lt A. Dermiz Alwin, and the Chief Guest, Inspector MR Rajesh Inspector crime branch (T-5), Vanagaram Police Station. A total of 25 NCC cadets actively participated in the programme. The event commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of World No Tobacco Day and the importance of preventing tobacco use among youth. During the programme, all the participants took a pledge to stay away from tobacco products and to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco in society.
The Chief Guest, Inspector MR Rajesh, delivered an inspiring and informative address. He shared valuable insights on the dangers of tobacco addiction, the importance of self-discipline, and the role of young people in building a healthy and drug-free society. His motivational words encouraged the students to make positive choices and become responsible citizens.
Principal, Dr. A. Sivasankar, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of maintaining good health, adopting healthy habits, and creating awareness about the harmful consequences of tobacco consumption. He appreciated the efforts of the NCC Unit in organizing such a meaningful programme. The programme was successfully organized under the guidance of ANO Lt A. Dermiz Alwin, whose dedication and commitment ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The awareness programme concluded with a renewed sense of responsibility among the participants to lead a tobacco-free life and contribute towards a healthier society. The World No Tobacco Day Awareness Programme was highly informative and inspiring, creating awareness among students and reinforcing the importance of a tobacco-free future.
