Plastic-Free Village Campaign, Digital Payment & Water Conservation awareness program
Saveetha Hospitality Institute – Food & Tourism (SHIFT) organized an Unnat Bharat Abhiyan awareness program on May 28 at Kondenchery Village. The program aimed to educate villagers about environmental sustainability, digital safety, and water conservation. Students actively conducted awareness activities to encourage responsible community practices and sustainable living. As part of the Plastic-Free Village Campaign, students explained the harmful effects of plastic pollution and promoted the use of eco-friendly alternatives such as cloth and jute bags. The digital Payment and cyber safety awareness session included demonstrations on secure UPI transactions and online payment methods. Villagers were also educated about cyber frauds, scam calls, fake links, and the importance of safeguarding passwords, OTPs, and bank account details.
The Water Conservation awareness session highlighted the significance of rainwater harvesting, responsible water usage, and preventing water wastage. Posters, demonstrations, and interactive discussions helped participants understand practical methods of conserving water. A total of 5 villagers participated in the program, and the faculty coordinator appreciated the students for their active involvement. Overall, the activity was informative and beneficial, promoting environmental awareness, digital literacy, and sustainable development in the village.
