96 years old mimicry artiste receives Seva Rathna award

R. Srinivasan (96 years old Udayarpalayam, resident of West Mambalam) received Seva Rathna award for AL4S Charitable Trust in a function held on May 2 at Infosys Hall, Sri RKM School, T.Nagar.
The award was presented by H.V. Hande (EX.Minsiter of Tamilnadu) in presence of S. Lalitha (Founder of AL4S Charitable Trust), Dr.N.Panchapakesan and  Vaadyar Sooryanarayan (Program coordination).
Udayarpalayam R. Srinivasan is a renowned Tamil Nadu-based mimicry artiste famous for his contributions to the 1974 film Aval Oru Thodarkathai, specifically for creating sound effects in the song “Kadavul Amaithuvaitha Medai”. He is a seasoned artist who specialized in ‘Vikatam’ (mimicry of sounds/manners).
He was mentored by or inspired by the style of Thiruvisainallur Ramasamy Shastri and specializes in mimicking animal sounds, mannerisms of Carnatic musicians, and other sounds.
He honed his skills with regular practice. He agreed that the knowledge of music was vital for performing vikatam. Srinivasan is retired from the railway department. 
He received Kalaiamamani award from Tamilnadu State Government. He also performed various venues in Humour club meets, Lions clubs and Rotary Clubs.
