World Immunization week observed at Saveetha College of Nursing
The Department of Child Health Nursing, Saveetha College of Nursing, under Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS), Thandalam, observed World Immunization Week on April 30 at Saveetha Medical College and Hospital.
Aligned with the 2026 theme, “For Every Generation, Vaccines Work,” the programme aimed to raise awareness about the life-saving benefits of immunization across all age groups. As part of the initiative, VI Semester B.Sc. Nursing students actively conducted an extensive health awareness drive within the hospital premises.
More than 1,000 members of the general public, including patients and their attendants, were reached through this campaign. The student nurses effectively disseminated information on the importance of immunization, various types of vaccines, and the recommended vaccination schedule. They emphasized the critical role of timely vaccination in preventing infectious diseases and promoting long-term health. The programme was well-received by the public, reflecting the dedication and commitment of the budding nurses in promoting community health education. This initiative highlights the institution’s continuous efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare practices and contribute to a healthier society.
The event stands as a testament to the proactive role of nursing students in bridging the gap between healthcare knowledge and community awareness.
