SHIFT institute observes World Earth Day
Saveetha Hospitality Institute – Food & Tourism (SHIFT), SIMATS University, Thandalam, observed World Earth Day (April 22) with meaningful student participation and environmental awareness activities. The program was organized to educate students about the importance of protecting the planet and promoting sustainable living.
As part of the celebration, the institute conducted a table art activity and presented the Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” Dr. T. Milton, Principal of SHIFT, addressed the students and explained the significance of Earth Day, emphasizing the need for community-led action, renewable energy, and responsible environmental behaviour. All first-year and second-year students assembled for the special event and actively participated in an awareness session on how to save and protect the earth. The talk focused on reducing waste, reusing materials, avoiding littering, and adopting eco-friendly habits in daily life.
Following the awareness session, all students and staff took a pledge on World Earth Day to protect the earth and contribute to a cleaner and greener future. They promised to reduce waste, reuse resources, and work towards environmental conservation.
The celebration successfully created awareness among the students and reinforced the institute’s commitment to sustainability, responsibility, and environmental care.
