Saveetha College of Nursing achieves world record in fastest Hemoglobin screening
An official world record attempt titled “Fastest Hemoglobin Screening Drive – Maximum Number of Adolescent Girls Screened for Anemia” was organized by Saveetha College of Nursing on March 26 at the Health Sciences Block of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences to promote early detection and awareness of anemia among adolescent girls.The initiative achieved a remarkable milestone by screening 653 adolescent girls within just two hours, surpassing the original target of four hours. Nine screening booths were arranged across three floors to ensure a systematic workflow. The process included obtaining digital informed consent, capillary blood sampling using sterile lancets, and hemoglobin estimation with calibrated hemoglobinometers under strict aseptic precautions. Participants identified with low hemoglobin levels were referred to integrated clinics for further evaluation and management. The World Record Officiation Ceremony was held in the presence of dignitaries, faculty members, and students. The world record was adjudicated by Natiyacharya Thilagavathy of the Raaba Book of World Records, who officially recognized the achievement and presented a medal and certificate.
This accomplishment reflects the steadfast commitment and support of the Honourable Chancellor N. M. Veeraiyan, Pro Chancellor Deepak Nallasamy, Vice Chancellor Ashwani Kumar, and Registrar Sheeja Varghese of SIMATS. It also highlights the dedication and teamwork of Principal R. Vijayalakshmi, Vice Principal L. Parimala, Dr. S. Tamilselvi, Organising Secretary, and the faculty members and students of Saveetha College of Nursing.
