Thuvakkam demonstrated its unwavering spirit of Be the Change by celebrating outstanding contributions in social work at the Be the Change Impact Awards 2025 Edition 2, held under the theme of Empowerment. The awards ceremony took place on Thuvakkam’s Foundation Day, August 24 at the Madras School of Social Work, Chennai.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member of the State Planning Commission of Tamil Nadu, and Dr. K. Sathyagopal IAS (Retd), former member of the National Green Tribunal, adding prestige to this joyous and meaningful occasion.
The award nominations were opened on August 9, 2025, and saw a remarkable response with over 60 participants competing. After a rigorous selection process and presentations by shortlisted nominees, the jury faced the challenge of choosing winners due to the high standard of entries. To recognize exceptional contributions beyond the winners, a Jury’s Special Mention category was also introduced.
Award Winners:
Individual Category: Arjunshankar Narayanan was honored for his exemplary dedication to community care, inclusion, and advocacy for the rights and dignity of differently-abled individuals and marginalized citizens.
Organization Category: Aatrupadai Foundation received the award for its impactful awareness and outreach programs, particularly targeting Class 11 and 12 students in government and aided schools on NEET, competitive exams, and alternate career training.
Corporate Category: Space Kidz India was recognized for the Mission ShakthiSAT-an initiative empowering girl student worldwide by involving them in a real-world space mission that fosters equal opportunities in science and technology.
Jury’s Special Mentions:
Individual: Parthasarathy Vasudevan for his inspiring Vidhyanjali Project, aimed at increasing literacy rates and promoting arts, crafts, dance, book reading, and interschool sports among underprivileged school children.
Organization:
Akshaya Trust was chosen for its supportive service for the old age people by providing free shelter houses. They also focus on providing quality education for the underprivilege children.
Talent Quest for India for its comprehensive Student Holistic Development Program, nurturing diverse talents and skills among students.
Thuvakkam continues to lead and inspire social change, fostering a community where empowerment, inclusion, and active participation are foundational principles for a better tomorrow.
