Apollo Institute of Hospital Management and Allied Sciences organises Organ Donation awareness program

Apollo Institute of Hospital Management and Allied Sciences (AIHMAS), Vanagaram, in collaboration with the Mohan Foundation, organised an Organ Donation awareness program on August 22 at AIHMAS campus. The motive of the program is to highlight the life-saving importance of organ donation and inspire greater participation from the community.
The day began with a walkathon around the AIHMAS campus and nearby areas, where students, doctors, and faculty members actively participated, carrying placards and raising slogans promoting the message of “Gift of Life through Organ Donation.”
The walkathon attracted the attention of local residents and passersby, creating a strong visual and social impact. The program was graced by Dr. D. Jagadeswaran, Dean & Head, AIHMAS, Dr.Anita Rogers, Medical Administrator, Apollo Speciality Hospitals- Vanagaram, Dr. Srivani, Vice Principal, AIHMAS, Archana, Assistant Professor, along with other faculty members and doctors from Apollo Hospitals and AIHMAS. As part of the awareness initiative, experts from the Mohan Foundation-India’s pioneering NGO in organ donation-delivered an insightful session.
The talk addressed the urgent need for organ donors, dispelled common myths, and emphasized the transformative impact organ donation can have on patients awaiting transplants. To foster student engagement, AIHMAS organised competitions including quiz, poster making, reels, and short films based on the theme of organ donation.
The winners were felicitated during the event for their creative and powerful contributions in spreading the noble message.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. D. Jagadeswaran, Dean & Head, AIHMAS, said “Organ donation is not just a medical act-it is an act of humanity and compassion. Through such awareness programs, we aim to nurture socially responsible healthcare professionals who will inspire society to embrace this noble cause.”
Dr. Anita Rogers, Medical Administrator, Apollo Specialty Hospitals, Vanagaram, added “India faces one of the widest gaps between patients awaiting organ transplants and available donors. Awareness is the first step to bridging this gap, and initiatives such as today’s walkathon play a vital role in driving this change.”
The event concluded with AIHMAS reaffirming its commitment to organising regular awareness programs, in alignment with Apollo Hospitals’ vision of Touching Lives, Spreading Hope.
