Aadi Perukku, also known as Pathinettam Perukku, is a Hindu religious festival, celebrated in Tamilnadu on the 18th day of the Aadi month. This year it is celebrated on August 3.
It marks the rising of river waters, symbolizing fertility and the start of the agricultural cycle. It is primarily a festival to express gratitude  to rivers, especially the Kaveri and also Amaravathi River, Bhavani River and Vaigai River.
Devotees celebrate by taking spiritual baths, offering prayers for prosperity, well-being, and harmonious relationships and conducting special poojas. A variety of rice dishes are prepared, offered as Neivediyam, and shared with family, friends, and relatives. People come together to exchange greetings and enjoy nature.
