Spark 2025 Ignites Entrepreneurial Spirit at Vaishnav College

The Department of Business Administration, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council (IIC), successfully hosted Spark 2025, a two-day Entrepreneurship training programme held on July 24 and July 25. The event aimed to kindle the entrepreneurial spark among students by exposing them to innovation ecosystems, organized under the guidance of Dr.K.Rao Prashanth Jyoty, Head of the Department, the faculty coordinators, Dr. S.P. Deepeka, Dr. H. Divyaa, Dr. S. Shankar, M. Kavitha, and Dr. M. Suganya and with active involvement of Student Coordinators, K. Sujanya, S. Visesh, Darshan Krishna, M. Pranva and A.J. Mohan Raaj, the training programme provided a dynamic platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to engage with industry leaders and academic experts.
Day 1 (July 24): Government Schemes & Institutional Innovation
The program was inaugurated with a presidential address by Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, Principal of the college, who emphasized the vital role of entrepreneurship in nation- building, urging students to embrace innovation and take initiative as future job creators.
His message underscored the need for educational institutions to foster entrepreneurial mindsets early in academic life. N.S. Vijayaganesh, Director of TIPS Academy, Vellore, and BFSI Facilitator at TATA Strive, Chennai, delivered the keynote address. His detailed session on MSME Registration and Government Schemes covered Udyam Registration, Mudra Loans, Startup India, and Stand-Up India-offering students a pragmatic road map to begin their entrepreneurial journeys. Adding an institutional perspective, Dr. A. Vijayalakshmi, Head of Data Science, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College emphasized on the pivotal role of the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in nurturing student ideas and enabling startup culture within the campus.
Day 2 (July 25): Sustainability and Social Impact in Entrepreneurship
The second day began with a thought-provoking session by Dr. R. Kumaran, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College who addressed the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with entrepreneurship. He explored how youth-led startups can directly contribute to global challenges like quality education, clean energy, and climate action by adopting ethical business practices. The highlight of the day was an inspirational talk by R. Jaganathan, founding member of Nallakeerai, a community-based organic farming initiative. Sharing his grassroots journey, he stressed the value of local sourcing, community empowerment, R&D and sustainability practices in modern enterprise.
The event concluded on a high note, having successfully sown seeds of innovation, social consciousness, and entrepreneurial ambition among future change makers.
