Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur inspires freshers with a power-packed motivation program to set the tone for a vibrant academic year with IGNITE 2025 held at the college premises. The programme aimed at empowering new entrants with purpose and positivity. Welcoming the gathering, Principal Dr. A. Sivasankar set the stage for the day’s theme ‘IGNITE’ as a call to awaken the inner fervour in students to dream big and act confidently. The ceremonial bouquet presentations followed, where Chairperson Suja George honoured chief guest Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail with a floral tribute and memento. In turn, Suja George and Anna John, Joint Director of the Alpha Group, were warmly welcomed by the institution’s leadership team.
Suja George, in her presidential address, reflected on the transformative role of education and encouraged students to embrace the opportunities before them. She also emphasized the importance of self-belief, collaboration, and adaptability in today’s fast- changing world. The chief guest, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member of the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission, a remarkable soil biologist and veteran environmental educator addressed the newly inducted Alphians in his special address. Renowned for his pioneering work in vermicomposting, Dr. Ismail has been a champion of sustainable practices and grassroots science education. In his thought-provoking address, he urged students to stay curious, think critically and creatively, and act responsibly toward the society and situations. He advised them to be choosy in selecting their way forward and the kind of friendships. He also stressed on the importance of picking up the right attitude, etiquettes for various circumstances and build networks to become confident and successful leaders.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. K. Thamizharasi, Coordinator of Shift II (Applied Courses), who acknowledged the collective efforts that made IGNITE 2025 a success. The programme culminated with the National Anthem, evoking a sense of unity and pride.
