Aadi Amavasya is the auspicious day when the Sun, the spiritual ruler of the father’s position, and the Moon, the mental ruler of the mother’s position, travel together in the Moon’s sign of Cancer. This year, Aadi Amavasya falls on July 24, Thursday, 2025.
By offering sesame seeds and water along with tarpai to sun on the amavasya day of Aadi, to each of the three generations of ancestors of the mother and father, i.e. father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; their souls will attain peace, their blessings will be received, evil will be removed, and merit will increase.
