Chitra Pournami is a great festival observed on the full moon day in the Tamil month of Chithirai. This year it is celebrated on May 12. Dedicated to Chitraguptar, the assistant of God Yama, the God of Death as well as Guru Brihaspati. Chitragupta is believed to maintain records of good and bad deeds of all and worshipping him on this day helps bhakta’s lead a righteous life and cleanse their sins.
