Saveetha College of Nursing observes National Immunization Day

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences. On March 16, India observes National Immunization Day (NID), which emphasizes the need to perform immunization to preventing children from vaccine-preventable diseases.
The students of Saveetha College of Nursing (Thandalam) observed the National Immunization day to promote vaccination campaigns and raise awareness about the importance of vaccines in preventing infectious diseases at Urban Community Health Centers in various a Zones in Chennai. The students are explained about the Newer vaccinations from India like COVAXIN and COVISHIELD, Inactivated Polio Vaccine, Rotavirus vaccine (RVV), Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine, Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV), Tetanus and adult diphtheria (Td) vaccine and benefits of vaccination. Students are emphasized the successful implementation of immunization programme for more than two decades, vaccine preventable diseases like neo-natal and maternal tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough have disappeared from our State. Polio has been eradicated for 13 years. Measles cases have also been substantially decreased. On the occasion, there was a hands-on demonstration of do’s and don’ts of after vaccination, screening of videos in regional languages for the mothers of under 5 children.
