Health threat of worms

National Deworming Day was observed on Feb.20 by Saveetha College of Nursing SIMATS to spread awareness among under-five children aged (1-5Years) at Madhuramangalam. Saveetha College of Nursing visited the village under the requirement of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), reaching out to about 100 children and training nearly 30 children focused on handwashing techniques and the importance of being dewormed as well as toilet usage. Door to door survey was taken from all the under five children mothers regarding knowledge of intestinal worms. Soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH), also known as intestinal worms, is a group of parasitic infections caused by several types of helminth worms that live in the human intestines. These worms are transmitted through contact with contaminated soil and can cause various health problems, particularly in children. On the occasion, there was a hands-on demonstration of hand-washing techniques and interactive games and a screening of videos in regional languages for the children.
