The Department Of English,Queen Mary’s College, Mylapore have started the Clubs to Encourage the students not only in education, but also in extracurricular activities, which is needed in our day to day life.

Dr.Maria Preethi Srinivasan, (Head of the department of English) founded six clubs for students namely,Theatre and Public Speaking Club, Ecolit Club,Film and Visual Media Club, Western Music Club, Visual Art and Creative Writing Club and Readers’ Planet Club.

Theatre and Public Speaking Club:
“My shyness has been in reality my shield and buckler.in buckler.it has allowed me to grow.it has helped me in my discernment of truth, says Mahatma Gandhi about the need of club.

Ecolit Club:
Whenever there is a challenge, there is also an opportunity to face it, to demonstrate and develop, our will and determination says Dalai Lama about the need of club.

Film and Visual Media Club:
Visual media is the Dominant art form in our present day Culture, where is poetry is at best,a proxy. Yet poetry and film are both”dream factories” says Denise Duhamel about the need of Club.

Western Music Club:
Music, Once Admitted to the soul, Becomes a Sort of Spirit and Never dies Says Edward Bulwer Cytton about the need of Club.

Visual Art &Creative Writing Club:
