The birthday of Hanuman is widely celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti, on New Moon day (Amavasya), which coincides with the Moola Nakshatra in the Tamil month of Margazhi. This year falls on Dec.30. Hanuman was born to Anjana and Kesari, the king of the Vanaras. He was blessed with immense strength and divine powers by various gods, including Bhagavan Shiva and Vayu, the wind god. Hanuman’s birth was foretold to be a part of Bhagavan Vishnu’s plan to defeat the demon king Ravana and rescue Goddess Sita. Hanuman is regarded as an avatar of Shiva and an ardent devotee of Rama. Hanuman is known by several names like Anjaneya, Maruti, Bajrang Bali, etc. Hanuman is considered as ‘Chiranjeevi’.
Overall, Hanuman’s character embodies virtues such as devotion, strength, humility, selflessness, wisdom, perseverance, and spiritual growth, which serve as valuable lessons for navigating life’s challenges with grace and integrity.
