Music festival till Jan.1

Rasika Fine Arts and Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School (83, Lake View Road, West Mambalam) has organised 21st annual music festival from Dec.22 to Jan.1 at JGHV, Postal Colony, 4th Street, West Mambalam.

The music festival will be inaugurated on Dec. 22 at 5 pm by Justice Lakshmi Narayan in presence of N.Kamakoti (Managing Director and CEO, City Union Bank), ‘Cleveland’ V.V. Sundaram (Musicologist), S.Vedantam (President, Rasika Fine Arts) and Girija Seshadri (Secretary).

There  will be conferring the birudhu with a cheque of each one lakh ‘Rasika Kala Bharathi’ on Hyderabad brothers fame D Raghava Chary (Carnatic Vocalist) and ‘Rasika Kala Nipuna’ on ‘ Kalaimamani’ Desur D.S.D. Selvarathinam (Nathaswara Vidwan) by the chief guest during the inauguration day.

The following are the program details:

Dec.22: 3.45 pm: Mangala isai; 6.45 pm: Vocal concert by Dr. Pantula Rama, accompanied by M.S.N.Murthy (Violin), Sai Gridhar (Mridangam) and Sunil Kumar (Kanjira).

Dec.23: 4 pm: Vocal concert by Lavanya Sundararaman, accompanied by ‘ Karaikal’ Venkatasubramaniam (Violin), ‘Kumbhakonam’ A.Saravanan (Mridangam) and ‘Kumbhakonam’ S. Balaji Sairam (morsing); 6.30 p.m: Vocal concert by Bharat Sundar accompanied by L. Ramakrishnan (violin), ‘Trivandrum’ Balaji (Mridangam) and Sunil Kumar (Kanjira).

Dec.24: 4 pm: Vocal concert by V. Shravan, accompanied by  ‘Madurai’ Vijayaganesh (Violin), Rohit Prasad (Mridangam) and Shivaramakrishna (Kanjira); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Abhishek Raghuram accompanied by H.N.Bhaskar (Violin) and N.C.Bharadwaj (Mridangam).

Dec.25: 4 pm: Bharthanatyam performance by Sahana Rajagopalan, accompanied by Gurus – Hema Rajagopalan and Krithika Rajagopalan, G. Vijayaraghavan (Mridangam), Chitrambari Krishnakumar (Vocal), Kalaiarasan Raamanathan (Violin) and Praveen K Narayanan (Nattuvangam); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Gayatri Girish, accompanied by ‘Mysore’ Srikanth (Violin),  ‘Poongulam’ Subramaniam (Mridangam) and N. Rajaraman (Ghatam).

Dec. 26: 4 pm: Vocal concert by ‘Maharajapuram’ Ganesh Viswanathan, accompanied by R. Rahul (Violin) and Palayamkottai B Guru Raghavendra (Mridangam); 6.30 pm: Nathaswaram performance by ‘Mylai’ Karthikeyan, accompanied by Visvesh (Violin), M.S.Venkata Subramaniam (Mridangam) and Trichy Krishna (Ghatam).

Dec.27: 4 pm: Vocal concert by ‘Sathur’ Krishna Ramarathinam, accompanied by Dr. Usha Rajagopalan (Violin), ‘Nellai’ Balaji Mridangam) and ‘Madipakkam’ Murali (Ghatam); 6.30 pm: A.Kanyakumari (Violin), V.Sanjeev (Violin) and Patri Sathish Kumar (Mridangam).

Dec 28: 10 am to 11.30 pm: Music program by JGHV and GKSHV students; 4 pm: Vocal concert by Jayasree Jayaramakrishna, accompanied by ‘Kovai’ Chandran (Violin), ‘Kumbhakonam’ Ramakrishna (Mridangam) and Narasimhan (Ghatam); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Akkarai sisters accompanied by Vinjamuri Kamalakiran (Violin), Kulur Jayachandra Rao (Mridangam) and Giridhar Udupa (Ghatam).

Dec. 29: 10 am to 11.30 am: Music program by JGHV teachers; 4 pm: Violin concert by Sherya Devnath, accompanied by Praveen Sparsh (Mridangam) and Sunil Kumar (Kanjira); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Dr. Nithyasree Mahadevan accompanied by ‘Parur’ M.A.Krishnasamy (Violin), ‘Karaikuruchi’ Mohanaraman (Mridangam) and ‘Trichy’ Krishnaswamy (Ghatam).

Dec.30: 4 pm: Vocal concert by Dr. Adesh Sundersan, accompanied by Vivek Dinesh (Violin) and A.Vamsidara (Mridangam); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Ashwath Narayanan, accompanied by Vittal Rangan (Violin) and ‘Delhi’ Sairam (Mridangam).

Dec. 31: 4 pm: Vocal concert by Sproothy Rao, accompanied by Vishal Soumyan (Violin) and S. Hariharan (Mridangam); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by Prince Rama Varma, accompanied by S R Vinu (Violin), B. Harikumar (Mridangam), Dr S Karthick (Ghatam) and ‘Payyannur’ Govindaprasad (Morsing).

Jan.1 : 4 pm: Bharatnatyam performance by Varsha Chandrasekar (disciple of ‘Natya Kala Saraswathy’ Malathy Thothadri) accompanied by Sai Sabapathy (Vocal), G Vijayaraghavan (Mridangam), E Devarajan (Flute) and Radha Venkateshawaran (Veena); 6.30 pm: Vocal concert by ‘Papanasam’ Ashok Ramani, accompanied by B.U.Ganesh Prasad (Violin) and ‘Kallaidaikurchi’ Sivakumar (Mridangam).
