Environment Education programme for students
As per the instructions from Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change Govt. of India, Tamil Nadu environment department is organizing events under Environment Education programme by involving National Green Corps (NGC)students.In continuation of this mission in disseminating the awareness activities among public and students a birds watch program was organised with best 6 NGC schools in Chennai district to Vedanthangal birds sanctuary. Thangaraj (Chennai District Green Committee Member) flagged off the trip and explained the importance of Marsh lands and Ramsar sites. The field staff in Pallikararanai eco park demonstrated the roles and responsibilities of individuals to conserve nature.
Later Kanimozhi (Forest official, Vedanthangal) guided the students to identify the birds with their colours, beaks, neck rings and sounds.
After the mission life pledge administered by Alagarasan (Arivukkan Magazine Editor) who lead the students in identifying the birds said, “Every citizen especially the students should involve in these kind of environmental activists initiated by environment department”.
All students were provided caps, T-shirts, food and other facilities by environment department and rangoli competitions, drawing competitions, Cyclothan and teachers work shop will be conducted in next weeks.
