Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, celebrated its cultural extravaganza, Alpha Fest on September 11 and 12 in its premises. This vibrant fest showcased a wide array of both on-stage and off-stage events, members from the four houses like Shakespeare, Shaw, Shelly and Spencer participated.
The fest was inaugurated by Archana Kumar, a renowned stage and television artiste, whose presence set an inspiring tone for the event. The valediction ceremony was graced by Muthamil, a celebrated lyricist, who concluded the festivities with an engaging speech. The special guests included M. Aadhiseshan, Writer and Director, Ananth, Actor and Director and Vignesh Antony, a versatile actor, voice artiste, and anchor.
The event was organized under the able leadership of Seva Ratna Dr. Grace George, Founder and Chairperson of the Alpha Group of Institutions, and Suja George, Vice Chairperson. The team also included Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal of Alpha Arts & Science College, Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal, Dr. Tamilarasi, Shift II Coordinator and Naveen Kumar, Convener of Alpha Fest 2024.
Over 500 students actively participated in the festival, which was divided into numerous engaging activities. The participants were evaluated based on their confidence, stage presence, teamwork, strategies, coordination, creativity, presentation skills, and choreography. The talent exhibited by the students left the judges impressed and provided a memorable experience for all attendees.
In addition to the competitive events, the Alpha Bazaar added a vibrant touch to the fest. Both
shifts contributed to the bazaar, featuring stalls with a variety of items such as handlooms, handcrafted goods, mobile accessories, fancy items, and a range of food items including bakery products, chat items, waffles, fresh juice, chicken biryani, shawarma, etc. At the conclusion of Alpha Fest 2024, the Spencer House emerged as the winner with the highest score. Shelly House secured the runners-up position, while Shaw House took third place.  The event was a resounding success, reflecting the dedication and enthusiasm of both the organizers and participants. It provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their skills and foster a sense of community and camaraderie.
