Cultural artists performed Karagattam, Oyilattam and thappattam at Besant Nagar beach Coastal Litter Monitoring Kiosk setup by Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board to demonstrate the ill effects of single use plastics.

More such awareness programmes are planned in Neelangarai beach kiosk too to curb the usage of single use plastics in their daily life. This is in addition to TNPCB’s campaign through E-Vehicles and Green Brigades. Thangaraj District Coordinator for the National Green Corps (NGC) movement, students from Chennai, Thiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts will be invited to demonstrate the alternative items to single use plastics and decided to provide cloth bags. Also Manjappai vending machines were installed in many places of city including one in Beach too.
