Investiture Ceremony held in Alpha Arts and Science College

Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated Investiture Ceremony on Aug. 24 in its premises. The student forum Investiture was organised for the academic year 2023-24 to inculcate a sense of commitment and responsibility among the students with their heads held high as future leaders. The event marked a significant moment, as it not only recognised the newly appointed student leaders but also celebrated the spirit of leadership, responsibility, and camaraderie among the student body. The ceremony commenced with an air of solemnity and enthusiasm as students, Professors and Heads of the various departments, distinguished guests gathered to witness the investiture of the newly elected student council members.
The Principal, Dr.A.Sivashankar delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of leadership and student participation in shaping the college environment and also highlighted that the student forum plays a pivotal role in voicing the concerns, aspirations, and ideas of the student community. Chief guest was introduced to the gathering by Dr.G. Selvamangai, Head of the Department, PG Department of Biotechnology & Convener of Student Forum. Chief Guest Dr.Shekar Kumar Niraj, IFS graced the occasion and administered the oath of office to the newly appointed student leaders. The oath underscored their commitment to uphold the values of integrity, responsibility, and teamwork. Dr. Shekhar Kumar Niraj, IFS is the first Director of AIWC in the rank of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Director, Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation and the Former Director and Country Head, TRAFFIC (Global Wildlife Trade Monitoring Network of the IUCN and WWF), additionally he is also the secretary of Biodiversity board, Govt. of Tamilnadu. Speaking on the occasion Dr.Shekar Kumar Neeraj shared insights from his own journey and emphasized the significance of leadership beyond the academic realm. He urged the students to embrace challenges, foster inclusivity, and contribute to the holistic development of their peers.
Certificate of appreciation was presented to the former student forum members by the Principal. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prema, Head of the Department, ISM (SII) and Convener of Student forum -SII, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the ceremony. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and optimism as students took pride in their roles and responsibilities.
The Investiture Ceremony was not just an event, it was a symbol of the College & commitment in nurturing leaders of tomorrow. The student leaders pledged to lead by example, promote unity, and collaborate with their peers to create a thriving and positive academic environment. The event came to an end with the rendition of the National Anthem, fostering a sense of patriotism and unity among the attendees.
