State Level Workshop

Saveetha College of Nursing, Thandalam organised State level workshop on July 18 with the focus on identify and strengthen the Evidence based practice in critical care. The theme of the workshop is Futuristic Nurse Practitioner-Rejuvenate Clinical Care Pathway. The programme was started with Tamil Thai Vazhthu followed by lighting the Kuthuvilakku.
Karpagam (Assistant Professor, MSN Saveetha College of Nursing) delivered a welcome address. She welcomed the guest of honor and the gathering. The theme of the workshop was unveiled by Dr.S. Kalabarathi (Principal, Saveetha College of Nursing). She focuses on the importance of inputs of emerging role by the Nurse Practitioner.
The first session was started at on the topic Clinical care pathway. The resource person for the session was Prof Dr.S. Maragatham (Professor, Saveetha College of Nursing). Her speech opened the eyes to overall introduction about the clinical care pathway for the delegates.
The second session was on Preparation of clinical care pathway. This session was dealt by Dr. Jothi Clara
J.Michael, Director of Nursing, IHH Health care India, Chennai. She was focused on the importance of what actions makes in well preparation the reduction of barriers in providing continuous care and to provide care based on evidence based practice. Also highlighted Difference between Clinical care Pathways and guidelines. She motivated the delegates how to be expert in Nursing Profession.
The third session was on Hands on Skill Practical Session-team work critical care pathway presentation. The resource person for the session was Leena Chandrasekaran, Head –Nursing Operations, Mehta Multi Speciality Hospital, Chennai. She emphasized on the genuine interest of team work to reduce harm, improve outcomes, and optimize care to prevent critical complications.
Karpagam (Assistant Proffessor, MSN Dept., Saveetha College of Nursing) was the moderator of the session.
The fourth session was on presentation of CCP by teams. The speaker of the session was by two experts Dr.Jothi ClaraJ.Michael and Leena Chandrasekaran. She briefed about the critical care pathway for
each critical conditions like PTCA, STEMI, Hemorrhagic Stroke, Non-Hemorrhagic Stroke to be managed very carefully and how the patient to be saved without complications.
The Fifth session was on the topic Implementation of Interdisciplinary clinical care pathway.
The speaker of the session was Dr. AnushuJhamnani, Deputy General manager in Quality and Medical Services, Dr. Rela Institute,Chennai. She focused on how to face the challenges and manage the critical patients by interdisciplinary teams.
The sixth session was a Virtual session on the topic of As a NP how do I do from registered nurses she focused on approaches to raise awareness and promote the use of skills in practicing as a nurse practitioner. The resource person of the session was Sherly Paul, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Wyvern Health Partnership, Murchison Surgery UK.
Dr.Bhuveneshwari, (HOD, Professor Saveetha College of Nursing) welcome the gathering. Feedback about the workshop report was presented by V. Beautily and the Feedback analysis was presented by Linda (Assistant Prof. Child Health Nursing Dept., Saveetha College of Nursing).
This event demonstrated the importance of implementing lifelong learning initiative on how to use clinical care pathway in critical care. Clinical pathways are tools used to guide evidenced based health care.
Their aim is to translate clinical practice guidelines recommendations in to clinical process of care.
The total number of delegates attended was 50 Staff nurses who came from 15 various institutions.
