Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, celebrated its 23rd Graduation Day on June10 in its premises. The solemn occasion witnessed a vibrant atmosphere of young graduates who were eager to receive their degree diplomas after a successful course of study. The day was special not only for the graduates but also for their parents who were present to witness their wards receiving the degree certificates.
The Chief Guest for the day was Dr. Sathya Prasad Mangalaraman (Senior Vice President, Ashok Leyland). The Guest of Honour was Dr. K.Saleem Ali, IPS (Rtd.), (Former Member of National Disaster Management Authority, DGP of Tripura and Special Director of CBI). Dr. Grace George (Founder and Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions), Suja George (Vice Chairperson), Dr A. Sivasankar (Principal), Dr. Benita Merlin (Vice Principal) and Dr. Tamizharasi (Shift II Coordinator) were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.
The program commenced with the formal academic procession. Dr. Grace George declared the Graduation Day Open. The Graduation Day address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Sathya Prasad Mangalaraman, Senior Vice President, Ashok Leyland which was highly inspiring and motivating to the graduates.
The Chief Guest awarded the degree diplomas to the graduates. The Vice Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions, Suja George administered the Pledge. The Chairperson presented the Memorial Awards and Citations to the winners of the three prestigious awards instituted by the college, Kannama Jeya Memorial Award, N. George Memorial Award, and Annamma Mullakkal Memorial Award.
P.K. Bhagya (Department of Computer Application, Shift I) and M. Naveen Balaji (Department of Commerce, Shift II) received the Kannama Jeya Memorial Award for the best outgoing student.
Arvind Tripathi (Department of Visual Communication, Shift I) and C.S. Vaidhyeeswaran (Department of Commerce, Shift II) received the N. George Memorial Award for Alpha Boy. Esther David (Department of Bio Technology, Shift I) and S. Sangeetha (Department of Computer Applications, Shift II) received the Annamma Mullakkal Memorial Award for Alpha Girl.
R. Srimathi  secured the III Rank in the examinations of the Department of Electronics and Communication Science by the University of Madras.
Chairperson Dr. Grace George pronounced the Dissolution of the Graduation Ceremony. Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal delivered the Vote of Thanks. With the National Anthem followed by the Return of Procession, the 23 rd Graduation Ceremony of Alpha Arts and Science College came to a successful close. The new graduates were invited to be active alumna of the College and visit the College as well as apprise their Departments of their progress in life.
