Mahakavi Bharatiyar’s 141th birthday celebration was held recently at Srikrishna Kana Sabha, Thiagaraya Nagar under the auspices of Sriram Bharati Arts and Literary Association. Chennai IIT Director V. Kamakody presided over the function. Prof. Salomon Papaiah was the special guest.
Prof. Solomon Papaiah released the book ‘Avvai Sol Keleer’ written by Avvai Arul, organiser of Sriram Bharati Arts and Literature Association, and IIT Director Kamakody received it.
In the program, Director of IIT Chennai V Kamakody said, recently 17 goals for sustainable development were published in the United States, these are equal rights for women, high quality education which Mahakavi Bharathiar mentioned 70 years ago. It includes living together without caste discrimination.
Seenu Rajagopalan (Translator) received Bharati Scholar award, Ira Nakkirar received Bharati Sudar award and Shanthakumari Sivakatsam received Bharati Mamani award. Sriram Bharati Arts and Literature Club President G. Sundaresan, program coordinator Ponneri Pratap, Dr.Bala Chandilyan and others participated in event.
