Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated Alpha Fest on Jan.11 and 12 in its premises. Members from the four houses like Shakespeare, Shaw, Shelly and Spencer participated in a plethora of off-stage and on-stage events that gave students the opportunity to display their talents and the impetus to win.
The chief guests on this occasion were Haasini (Actor, Dubbing artist, RJ and VJ) and Manoj (Video Jockey and Choreographer) also an alumni of the College.
Dr. A. Sivasankar (Principal), Dr. Benita Merlin (Vice Principal), Dr.Tamilarasi (Shift II Coordinator) and Kavitha (Convener of Alpha Fest 2023)were the other dignitaries present on the ocassion of Alpha Fest. The chief guests and the Principal motivated the young stars of Alpha to do their best and excel in what they do.
The event was organised under the leadership of Seva Ratna Dr. Grace George (Founder and Chairperson of the Alpha Group of Institutions) and Suja George (Vice Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions).
Some of the off-stage events were Signature Chefs(Food without fire), Grill fill(Face Painting),Shutter up(Photography), Mehndi (Bridal Mehndi Design), Minute to Win it(One minute film festival)and Rangoli. The on-stage events were Naataka Pervizha(Tamil Skit), I’ve got the Rhythm (Solo Dance), Dance Dil Se(Group Dance), Beat Explosion(Instrumental Unplugged), Tap your feet(Solo Singing) and Vocal affinity(Group Singing). The students were judged for their confidence, stage presence, teamwork, strategies, co-ordination, creativity, presentation skills and choreography. Particpants awed the judges with their extraordinary performance.
Each of the houses put up stalls as part of Alpha Fest’s Alpha Bazaar. Both the shifts actively participated in bringing different stalls like organic products, Handcrafts, Mobile accessories, Fancy items and other accessories. And also food items like Bakery products, Chat items, Ice Cream, Fresh juice, Chicken Briyani, Shawarma, Veg Rice and Noodles. At the end of a day choc-a-bloc with thrilling competitions that tested skill and challenged students to perform beyond their limitations, Spencer House with the highest score was declared winner of Alpha Fest 2023. Shelly House secured the Runners up position and Shaw House secured the third place.
More than 500 students participated enthusiastically in all the events.
