Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur celebrated annual college day celebrations on April 10 in its premises. The chief guest for the occasion was V. Sridhar (Chairman, Enmac Systems Private Ltd.). Principal, Dr. A.Sivasankar, Vice Principal Dr. Benita Merlin, Coordinator of Shift II, Dr. Tamizharasai were the other dignitaries present in the occasion. The formal programme began with an invocation to the Almighty by the Alpha Choir. This was followed by the Welcome Address by E. Ilamparuthi, President, Student Forum, Shift I.

The chief guest elaborated on the purpose of education and being oneself. He stressed on the fact that one should remember that wherever one goes and be mindful of the situations which may test the strength of character. He encouraged the young learners of the college to make full use of their college education to become empowered and enlightened. He said, “Success is our birth right” and drew the example of Edison who failed a thousand attempts before inventing the light bulb. Failures always lead to success and one should never lose self-confidence. This was followed by a time of looking back, celebrating and reminiscing over past events with the screening of the Annual College Day Documentary, which took the audience through the events and accomplishments of the departments and clubs for the academic year 2023-24. Meritorious students in various disciplines were honoured in the event. The dignitaries distributed prizes to students for their academic and general proficiency. S. Subashree, President, Student Forum Shift II delivered the vote of thanks.
