The Silver Jubilee Celebration of Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, was held on July 13 at Le Royal Meridien. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Taga Masayuki, Consul General of Japan, Chennai. The Guests of Honor were Rev.Dr.Theodosius, XXII Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, RT.Rev.Dr.Mathews Mar Makarious, Diocesan Episcopa, V.S. Muralidhar, Senior Director, Global Services India and Asia Pacific, Danfoss Industries, Dr.Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member of State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu and Mangaleeshwaran Deenan, Vice President, Catholic Syrian Bank (Alumnus, AASC). Dr. Grace George, (Founder and Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions) and Suja George (Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions)and Dr. A. Sivasankar (Principal, Alpha Arts and Science College) were the other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The program commenced with an invocation by the student’s choir followed by Lighting of the Lamp by the Dignitaries on the dias and the welcome address by Dr.A.Sivasankar. The Special Message was delivered by Rev.Dr.Theodosius, XXII Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. A special prayer of blessing in commemoration of the Silver Jubilee Celebration was offered by RT.Rev.Dr.Mathews Mar Makarious, Diocesan Episcopa. This was followed by an address by Dr. Grace George and Suja George.
The Chief Guest of the silver jubilee celebration Taga Masayuki, Consul General of Japan, Chennai addressed the gathering. In his address, he noted that his visit to Alpha Silver Jubilee celebration has gained significance in light of the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic ties between India and Japan. He also graciously extended an offer for future collaboration between Alpha Arts and Science College and Japan in the areas of faculty and student cultural and academic exchange programs. The Guest of Honor, V.S.Muralidhar, Senior Director, Global Services India and Asia Pacific, Danfoss Industries, addressed the gathering. Recollecting his success story, he invited the students of Alpha for Industrial visits to Danfoss and assured the management of placement opportunities at Danfoss for students of the college. Dr.Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member of State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu delivered a speech to the gathering. The Alumnus, Mangaleeshwaran Deenan, Vice President, Catholic Syrian Bank addressed the gathering. The Chief Guest, Taga Masayuki, released the College Souvenir and the first copy was received by Grace, Rev.Dr.Theodosius, XXII Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church.
Marking the 25 years journey of Alpha Arts and Arts and Science College, A Video Documentary was premiered. This was followed by the Recognition and Appreciation of Departments, Faculty and Students. Dr.B.Benita Merlin, Vice Principal, AASC delivered the vote of thanks. The audience enjoyed a classical performance. The program came to an end with the National anthem.
