Alpha celebrates Annual College day
Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, celebrated its Annual College Day on April 2 in its premises. The chief guest for the occasion was V. Mahesh, Executive Director, Manufacturing Operations, NCR ATLEOS, Chennai. Suja George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions, presided over the event. George John, Joint Director, AGI, and Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal, Alpha Arts and Science College, Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal and Dr. K. Tamizharasi, Shift II- Coordinator were the other dignitaries present. The formal programme began with Tamil Thai Vaazhthu, followed by an Invocation to the Almighty. M. Kaviya , President, Student Forum, Shift-I, delivered the welcome address. Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal, Alpha Arts and Science College, presented the annual day report through an audio-visual presentation which highlighted the events, academic achievements, and activities of the various departments and clubs during the academic year.
The presidential address was delivered by Suja George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions, who spoke about the value of education in shaping a better future. She highlighted the need for discipline, hard work, and a positive attitude, and encouraged the students to follow ethical values in all aspects of life. Her address reinforced the college’s focus on the overall growth of its students. The chief guest, V. Mahesh, delivered a thoughtful and practical address. He shared seven cardinal principles that graduating students should follow for success in their careers and personal lives. He stressed that good communication and soft skills are very important in today’s world, as they help in building strong relationships and working effectively with others. He also encouraged the students to dream big and to work steadily towards their goals. The chief guest explained how education should connect classroom learning with real-life applications, and how it can help students become useful members of society.
This was followed by the distribution of prizes, during which the dignitaries honored the students for their academic and co-curricular achievements. Y. Blessan Vass, Sports Secretary, Student Forum, Shift-II, proposed the vote of thanks to conclude the formal session. A variety of cultural programmes by the Alphians were well appreciated by the audience.
