Neighbourhood resident wins silver medal in National Pickleball Tournament

The National Pickleball Championships, 2025, held under the aegis of the Indian Pickleball Association and the Sports Authority of India were held in Bangalore, Nov.13- Nov.16, with upwards of 1000 men and women players between 7 and 80 years of age across categories.
Vasudevan Kothandaraman (a resident of Iyyapanthangal), with partner Venkataramanan Srinivasan, emerged Silver medal victors in the 60+ men’s doubles Open category. Passionate racquet sport enthusiasts, they dedicated this victory to some intensely focused pre-match preparation at the Pickler’s Arena, Iyyapanthangal.
Pickler’s Arena has the best in Chennai pickleball indoor facility, built to world class standards, where the 7th TN State Pickleball Championships were held earlier this year. It is a fertile
pickleball training facility that has shaped several TN champions of this game.
Pickleball is currently the fastest growing racquet sport in India and across the world across age and gender. Easy to play and upskill, it provides not just a wonderful health workout, but also a high level of social and people connect within a happy “pickler” community. The country is now excitedly looking forward to the inaugural session of the “Indian Pickleball League” (evolving on the lines of the T20 IPL), which will kick off on Dec.1, in Delhi. The Chennai Super Warriors, apart from Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi are the 5 franchises that will feature in this inaugural.
