The 25th Graduation Day of Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur was held on July 11 at the Anna Centenary Auditorium, Kotturpuram. The spectacular event was filled with delight as the young graduands received their degrees certificates. It was truly a momentous occasion on an unprecedented scale not only for the graduates but also for their parents, who witnessed their ward’s achievements.
The chief guest for the day was Anbu Nedunchezhian General Manager(Rtd.), Caterpillar Inc. The guests of honour was Dr. Sultan Ahamed Ismail, Member of the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission Suja George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions, George John, Joint Director -Administration, Alpha Group of Institutions, Anna John, Joint Director-Finance, Alpha Group of Institutions, Dr. A. Sivasankar, Principal, Alpha Arts and Science College, Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal and Dr.Tamizharasi, Shift II Coordinator were the other dignitaries present on this occasion. The program commenced with the formal academic procession. Suja George declared the Graduation Day Open.
The Graduation Day address was delivered by the chief guest, Anbu Nedunchezhian, General Manager (Rtd.), Caterpillar Inc. which was highly inspiring and motivating for the graduates. He wished that Alpha Group of Institutions will be upgraded as an University in near future. He added that definitely 100th Graduation Day would be celebrated by us without any challenges. He also appreciated the management for offering the courses at an affordable fee. The Chief Guest awarded the degree certificates to the graduates. The Vice Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions, Suja George administered the pledge. The dignitaries then presented the memorial awards and citations to the winners of the prestigious awards instituted by the college, Dr. Grace George Memorial award, N. George Memorial Award, and Annamma Mullakkal Memorial Award. Dr.Grace George Memorial Award for best outgoing student is awarded to Nishiya, Department of Electronics and Communication Science (Shift I) and to J. Ganesh from the Department of Computer Applications (Shift II). N. George Memorial Award was received by P. Mohan Kumar, Department of Visual Communication (Shift I) and by  Shanmugam, Department of Commerce (Shift II). The Annamma Mullakkal Memorial award for Alpha Girl is presented to V.S. Nandhini, Department of BioTechnology (Shift I) and to S.R. Priyadharshini, Department of Commerce (Shift II). The meritorious students of 2020-2023 batch who have secured ranks in the examinations conducted by the University of Madras are awarded medals and certificates. The University Rank holders are A.V.Nishiya, Department of Electronics and Communication Science, I Rank, B. Binshiya Rao, Department of Electronics and Communication Science, II Rank, V.JothiLakshmi, Department of Electronics and Communicaion Science, III Rank and M. Samuel, PG Department of BioTechnology, X Rank. The Chairperson, Suja George pronounced the Dissolution of the Graduation Ceremony. Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal delivered the vote of thanks. With the National Anthem followed by the return of procession, the 25th Graduation Ceremony of Alpha Arts and Science College came to a successful close. The new graduates were invited to be active alumni and visit their alma mater as well as appraise their departments of their progress in life.
