The 26th<\/sup> Graduation Day of Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, Chennai, was commemorated on July 10, 2026 at the Anna Centenary Auditorium, Kotturpuram. The magnificent occasion was immersed in jubilation as the young graduands were conferred their degree certificates. The chief guest for the day was Dr. P. Arul Prabhu, Managing Director, Salcomp Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. The guests of honour were Dr. Sultan Ahamed Ismail, Former Member of the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission, Soil Biologist & Ecologist and Dr. K. SaIeem Ali, IPS (Rtd.), Former Member of National Disaster Management Authority, DGP of Tripura, Special Director of CBI. Suja George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions, \u00a0Anna John, Joint Director, Alpha Group of Institutions, Dr A. Sivasankar, Principal, Alpha Arts and Science College, Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal and Dr. K.Tamizharasi, Shift II Coordinator were the other dignitaries present on the occasion. The program commenced with the formal academic procession. Suja George declared the Graduation day open. The proceedings commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr A. Sivasankar, Principal, who underscored the significance of the day as a celebration not merely of academic accomplishment, but of the values, resilience, and character cultivated by the graduates during their years at the college.
The Graduation Day address was delivered by the chief guest, Dr. P. Arul Prabhu, Managing Director, Salcomp Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. which was highly inspiring for the graduates. The chief guest highlighted India\u2019s rapid rise as a hub for manufacturing, technology and innovation, citing policies like Digital India and Startup India alongside major electronics- sector investment expected to create over 1,15,000 jobs in the forthcoming year. He noted India has shifted from being seen as a market to becoming a genuine partner in engineering and innovation, driven by quality, talent and reliability rather than cost alone.
Addressing graduates directly, he urged them to keep learning continuously and never stop growing, while stressing that character, not just skill, is what industry values most and what technology can never replace. He called on students to build meaningful careers and a stronger nation.
The chief guest awarded the degree certificates to the graduates. The Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions, Suja George administered the pledge. The dignitaries then presented the memorial awards and citations to the winners of the prestigious awards instituted by the college, Dr. Grace George Memorial award, N. George Memorial Award, Annamma Mullakkal Memorial Award and Kannamma Jeya Award. The Dr.Grace George Memorial Award for best outgoing student is awarded to\u00a0 S. Gayathri of the Department of Biotechnology and to \u00a0S. Subhasree, from the Department of Commerce. N. George Memorial Award was received by A. Antony Leo of the Department of Business Administration and by\u00a0S. Akkuniyash of the Department of Computer Applications. The Annamma Mullakkal Memorial Award for Alpha Girl is presented to R. Vidhyalakshmi of the Department of Computer Science, and to S. Prisha from the Department of Commerce. The Kannamma Jeya Memorial Award was presented to R. Saraswathi from the Department of Corporate Secretaryship.
The Chairperson, Suja George, formally pronounced the dissolution of the Graduation Ceremony, whereupon Dr. Benita Merlin, Vice Principal, rendered the vote of thanks. The newly minted graduates were warmly exhorted to remain active alumni, to revisit their alma mater in the years ahead, and to keep their respective departments apprised of their continuing journeys in life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
