Saveetha Hospitality Institute of Food and Tourism (SHIFT), SIMATS, Thandalam, hosted the Tech Star Summit 2026, its annual research poster competition, on June 6 in SIMATS University. The summit aimed to promote research aptitude, innovation and interdisciplinary learning among students. Paul Iruthayraj, Lead Consultant, PC International Consultancy, inaugurated the event and stressed the role of research and innovation in professional development. Fifteen student teams presented research posters on topics spanning hospitality, food service, tourism and allied disciplines. An expert panel – Chef Ila Murugan (Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute), Parveen Kumar Sharma (IHM Chennai) and an IHM final-year student – judged the entries. Presentations showcased analytical rigor and practical relevance to industry trends and challenges. Yuvasree and Akshaya won the first prize for their outstanding poster presentation. The valedictory ceremony recognized top performers and celebrated student research achievements. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty and concluded successfully. Dr. T.
