Vaishnav College"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Women Students\u2019 Forum and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous) successfully organized a two-day Programme on \u201cGender Sensitization and Awareness on POSH Regulations\u201d on February 20 and 23 in SRG Auditorium of the college.<br>The initiative was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, and coordinated by Dr. S. Akileswari, Convenor, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth planning and effective execution\u00a0 of the programme. The event reflected the institution\u2019s continued commitment to promoting awareness, equality, and social responsibility on campus. The programme aligned with sustainable development Goal 5 \u2013 Gender Equality, aiming to sensitize students about workplace dignity, gender respect, and the provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act.<br>The event was graced by the chief guest, G. Sivakumar, Senior Civil Judge, Sub Court, Ambattur, Tamil Nadu. In his address, he provide detailed insights into the legal framework of the POSH Act, emphasizing the importance of understanding individual rights, complaint procedures, institutional responsibilities, and ensuring justice and safety within academic and professional spaces.<br>In his presidential address, Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo underscored the need to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment. He appreciated the efforts of the Women Students\u2019 Forum and ICC in organizing a socially relevant programme that empowers students with awareness and knowledge.<br>Ashok Kumar Mundhra, Secretary of the institution, was acknowledged for his visionary leadership and dedication toward promoting academic excellence, discipline, and value-based education,<br>significantly contributing to the growth and progressive outlook of the college.<br>The programme featured expert sessions by distinguished resource persons. Dr. J. Vasantha Kumari, Consultant Psychologist and Gender and POSH Expert, highlighted the psychological impact of harassment and stressed the importance of mental health support systems for affected individuals.<br>Sujatha Natarajan, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Activist, addressed issues related to gender equality, bodily autonomy, and awareness of personal rights, encouraging students to uphold dignity and mutual respect.<br>Anne Anshumathi Raj, POSH Consultant and Life Coach, provided practical guidance on identifying inappropriate behavior, maintaining professional boundaries, and confidently reporting incidents of<br>harassment. Her session offered actionable strategies applicable in both academic and workplace environments.<br>The interactive sessions across both days witnessed active participation from students and faculty members.
