The Department of Business Administration at Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Arumbakkam organized a powerful and insightful seminar titled ‘Pennalam’, Nurturing Women\u2019s Strength through Self-Care & Business on August 6. The event focused on two critical themes, Women\u2019s Health and Women Entrepreneurship aimed at empowering young women with knowledge, confidence, and entrepreneurial vision.
The program was inaugurated with a formal ceremony, presided over by Principal Capt. Dr. S. Santhosh Baboo, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. He emphasized the vital role of women in shaping a progressive society and urged students to prioritize both physical well-being and financial independence through entrepreneurship.
Organized under the leadership of Dr. K. Rao Prasanth Jyoty, Head of the Department, the seminar was coordinated by Renu Kumari and V. S. Bhuvaneshwari, Assistant Professors in the department.
The highlight of the event was an engaging session by Dr. T. Kiruthiga, MBBS, MS (OBG) from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. A passionate advocate for women\u2019s health, Dr. Kiruthiga has been actively involved in numerous community campaigns focused on menstrual hygiene, reproductive care, and wellness.
In her session, she addressed both the physical and financial well-being of women. She shed light on essential practices for personal hygiene and menstrual care, infection prevention, and the long-term benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Further, she inspired students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable and empowering career path, elaborating on government schemes, startup support programs, and the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in India.
