Dr. MGR Home & Higher Secondary School for the Speech & Hearing Impaired (Ramapuram) organised\u00a0 seminar on Jan. 23 in the topic of \u201cHealth Services for Persons who are Differently Able\u201d\u00a0 as a part of Bharath Rathna Dr. MGR (Former Chief Minister, Founder of Dr. MGR Home & Higher Secondary School for the Speech & Hearing Impaired) birthday celebration.
The Seminar started with prayer followed by the presidential address given by Dr.Sudha Seshayan ( Former Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University).
A welcome address was given by Dr. Latha Rajendran (Director of Dr. MGR Institute of Special Education and Research). Dr. S. Bhasi (Prof. & Head, Dept. of Clinical Psychology, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research centre, Kattangalathur) gave his insight on Psychological Services for persons who are differently able. \u00a0Dr. R. Thamarai (DEIC Medical officer, Dept. of Social Pediatrics Govt. Stanley Hospital) gave her speech on Health and Rehabilitation services for children who are differently able.
Dr. T. Aravinth (Senior Assistant Professor, Dept. of Orthopedics\u00a0 Government, Stanley Hospital) shared about Orthopedic Services for Persons who are Differently Able. M. Shankar Sahayaraj (Program Manager – Social Care Services TN Rights Project Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled Chennai) enlighten the services provide by the early intervention centers and various scholarships available for the differently \u00a0abled people.\u00a0 Dr. Vijayalakshmi (Former Head, Medical Sciences NIEPMD, Chennai) Health Services for Persons who are Differently Able – A Perspective (Multiple Disability) told about the problems faced by the people with multiple disabilities. The last session was handled by C. Govinda Krishnan (Founder of Nethrodaya, Chennai) on Health Services for Persons who are Differently Able – A Perspective (Visual Impairment) and highlighted the importance of inclusive environment. In the final session a panel discussion mediated by Dr. Sreepriya (Officer i\/c, NIEVD RC, Chennai) were eminent panelist from varied specialization have participated and highlighted the importance of raising awareness about different health services for persons who are differently abled and to enable them due access to the seminar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
