Chennai District National Green Corps (NGC), an initiative of Ministry of environment forest and climate change (Department of environment) conducts many awareness programs in Chennai and other districts on Plastics, e-waste, herbal gardens and Green days celebration for the past 17 years.
NGC in association with Indian Oil Corporation Pipelines division organised a mega campaign at Vidhyodaya Girls Hr. Sec. School, T. Nagar to inculcate the ill effects of plastics among students and educate them to use stainless steel water bottles as an alternate to plastics. 
Thangaraj (NGC Coordinator) listed out the Govt’s initiatives, events and activities in the presence of Executive Director Sawant. Dr.Srinivasan (Health Education Officer) demonstrated with power point presentation the procedures to be followed during this pandemic and the importance of avoiding plastics. All students were given stainless steel water bottles as part of the Swachatha paghwada event.
